A Small Massachusetts Company Is Changing The Way Kids Learn About Technology; Their At-Home Learning Kit Launches Today
Circuit Lab aims to raise funds on Kickstarter to bring cutting-edge STEM learning kits to market.

Somerville, MA, April 3, 2018 – Today Circuit Lab launches their Build-it-All Starter Kit on crowd-funding site Kickstarter. Starting at $60.00 for early bird orders, the Build-it-All Starter Kit provides kids and adults with the first truly beginner-friendly interactive electronics kit based on professional electronics prototyping tools. It's kid-tested, accessible, and uniquely intuitive.

Circuit Lab has been teaching cutting-edge electronics classes at after-school programs and summer camps in Greater Boston since 2015, and the release of the Build-It-All Starter Kit marks the first time their unique learning experience, based around the Arduino Uno microcontroller, is available for at-home use anywhere in the world. Projects included with the kit range from blinking lights to customizable musical instruments to a robot that can give you high-fives.

Jake Weisberg, Circuit Lab’s founder, explains: "Even though people are curious about the ubiquitous flashing, buzzing, clickable electronic devices all around us, there aren’t many accessible ways to learn about their inner workings or explore them creatively. It’s not taught effectively in schools, and even to many adults the electronics around them are mysterious ‘black boxes’. The Build-It-All Starter Kit demystifies modern electronics, providing a fun and experiential path to understanding and creating your own interactive circuits.”

Two defining elements of the Build-It-All Starter Kit are Circuit Lab’s CodeLab visual programming interface, now available online for use with the kit, and the detailed video tutorial series that accompanies the kit’s projects. Other circuitry kits use text-based programming languages and printed project booklets, but the inevitable struggles with semicolons and syntax in older programming languages, as well as the limited troubleshooting help provided by print media, end up inhibiting creativity and confidence for new learners.

CodeLab and the video tutorial series work together to lower barriers for building interactive, programmable circuits. They allow you to pick up the kit and assemble your own devices, then get straight to the fun and creative part of circuitry: customizing and adding more function to your inventions.

“After years of refining and polishing our curriculum, we look forward to taking this offering to a new space beyond the classroom - directly into the hands of curious kids and adults.” explains founder Jake Weisberg. “The projects derived from our well-trialed classroom curriculum, combined with the CodeLab programming interface and video tutorials, make building and programming your inventions easy and enjoyable from start to finish!”
